IC-2 is an iron control additive that reduces ferric iron in live acid and sequesters dissolved iron in spent acid. IC-2 is recommended for use in 15% hydrochloric acid blends up to a maximum temperature of 80°C (176°F).
IC-3 is an iron control additive that chelates dissolved ferric iron in spent acid. As a chelating agent, IC-3 can be used as an iron control in gas wells and condensate wells that do not pose an asphaltene precipitation issue. Ferric iron re-precipitates from acid once the pH rises above 1.8. IC-3 will prevent the precipitation of ferric iron that is solubilized into the acid during the treatment, therefore preventing damage to the formation. IC-3 is active at any temperature up to 200°C (392°F).
IC-8 is an iron control additive that quickly reduces ferric iron in both live and spent acid. Ferric iron is often dissolved into solution during acidizing when the acid contacts treating iron, tubing/casing, and iron based minerals/scales. Ferric iron can cause damage in acidizing by two mechanism; sludging of oil and precipitation of ferric hydroxide. IC-8 is active at temperatures to 110°C (230°F).
